If you are a new seller and looking to sell on Amazon these are the most important things you must know as a beginner
- Open a professional seller account it if you are doing fulfillment by Amazon and you are shipping your products to Amazon warehouse
- If Amazon is not accepting your sign up information and there is no option of your home country, choose the country you live in currently like USA, Canada, UK, etc. If there is no option probably your country is not eligible yet to sell on Amazon
- Amazon may require utility bill etc to verify your identity, The address on the bills must be the same and it should be under your own name. Otherwise, Amazon will not accept the information
- The whole process may take a few days to a few weeks. After you get accepted you will be charged $39.99 and if you are not ready to sell you can get the monthly fee back by emailing Amazon. Once your product is manufactured, then switch to the professional account.
- The next thing you will be doing is find a low-risk product that can have high margins and high demand with low competition.
- Make sure the product is not fragile and has low FBA fees. Check Amazon profitability calculator for all the cost associated with selling
- As a beginner select a product between 2 to 5 dollars
- If you are a new seller FBA fee should be under 5 dollars ideally
- If your product doesn’t sell in 365 days, you will incur storage fees from Amazon
- For sourcing on Alibaba use Trade Assurance for your peace of mind.
- Buy UPC codes from Speedy BarCodes. Put your barcode in that listing and use the FNSKU barcode, put that barcode on every single unit. Do not use Amazon’s labeling service because they charge you quite a bit.
- Use freight forwarders because suppliers can charge a bit more for shipping.
- The best profit margins are 20 to 40 percent on any product
- You will need $3,000 to $5,000 to start with Amazon
- On PPC, $20 per day is a good start. Do giveaways and get reviews to increase organic sales.
- Optimize your listing with keywords, do a competitor analysis first.
